The thermo-reactive extinguishing powder compositions are used to extinguish wildfires. The fire extinguishing module is a housing filled with TRFFA, which is activated by a pulse signal (thermal, electric, radio-controlled) applied to the fuse, which ignites a charge from the gas-generating composition (GGC). Combustion products through perforations in the gas generator housing or when it is destroyed affect the TRFFA, and by an excess pressure of more than 1.0 MPa is reached inside the generator, the body with TRFFA and GGC is destroyed, releasing a highly effective fire extinguishing aerosol cloud into the atmosphere. In addition to the high fire extinguishing ability, such a cloud has a high coefficient of absorption of infrared radiation and prevents radiant heat transfer from the fire source to new portions of combustible material.

The key advantages of the developed TRFFA technology include:

  • variability of the delivery of modules from the TRFFA to the upper source of forest fires: the use of multiple launch rocket systems with the replacement of the striking head with a fire extinguishing module, the dumping of modules from the air by drones (pilotless vehicles), delivery with the help of ground robotics, etc.;
  • wide weight and size range, depending on the task being solved;
  • extinguishing efficiency with minimal component consumption;
  • a systematic approach to solving the problem of forest fires: monitoring, prevention of fires, extinguishing, including fire storms;
  • absence of substances that contribute to the destruction of the ozone layer.
